A shortage of truck parking spaces is a major concern for truck drivers. However, Waspy’s Truck Stop, which has Iowa locations in both Audubon and Templeton, offers free truck parking.

The American Trucking Associations noted that finding a safe parking place is a primary cause of truck driver stress.

Finding a safe parking place is a primary cause of truck driver stress.

On average, truck drivers spend an hour a day searching for parking. ELD (electronic logging device) mandates mean truckers’ hours are tightly tracked. Spending extra minutes searching for parking is no longer possible.

As a result, truckers sometimes resort to parking in unsafe locations such as abandon lots, slums or behind warehouses. Parking in a dangerous location may mean a poor night’s rest for drivers.

Truckers who’ve not had a quality night’s sleep are a danger to themselves and other drivers on the road.
Rested and refreshed truck drivers are the best.
